The dark heart of Melbourne

koko_black_hot_chocolate_narrowweb__300x36101

A very interesting article in the Brisbane times about the evolution of the chocolate and coffee culture. In Melbourne is standing up a new culture: besides the coffee bars, there is emerging a new trend ‘the chocolate bars’.  These bars focus on the flavour of chocolate and use this in different preparations, going from hot chocolate drinks over shakes and pralines.

They are quickly expanding and form a serious challenge to the city’s coffee houses. But I follow the conclusion of the article that they will co-exist in the end and coffee houses will start to serve more chocolate and chocolate bars will serve more coffee.
